Institute of Environmental Processes and Pollution Control

The Institute of Environmental Processes and Pollution Control (IEPPC) of Jiangnan University was established in 2017. Prof. Zhenyu Wang, the director of IEPPC, has received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. Under the leadership of Prof. Wang, IEPPC is in charge of several national projects including Major Program of International Cooperation supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) (2016-2020), International Cooperation and Exchange funded by NSFC (2019-2023), National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program, 2015-2019), NSFC for Young Scholars (2019-2021), etc. Over the past three years, more than 100 SCI research papers have been published in the prestigious journals such as Environmental Science and Technology, Environmental Science: Nano, Water Research, etc.

The IEPPC is positioned to elucidate the key environmental geochemical processes of contaminants, the environmental fate of engineered nanoparticles and the biological response, as well as the comprehensive utilization of biomass.

In 2018, IEPPC has been granted to establish the International Joint Research Laboratory for Environmental Processes and Pollution Control at Jiangnan University. Currently, IEPPC has a lab space of 1000 m2, and is equipped with advanced instruments value for over 20 million RMB, such as ICP-MS with an air cleanliness level of 100,000, Ultimate RSLCnano LC tandem Q Exactive MS/MS, confocal super-resolution imaging system, cytology lab, microbial lab and phytotron. In addition, a 100 m2 greenhouse has been set up for pot experiment.

5. Mechanisms of earthworm-driven geochemical behavior of engineered nanoparticles and their chemical communication in rhizosphere (NSFC for Young Scholars, 2019-2021).
