一、Introduction to professional field
Jiangnan University gained the right of master’s degree conferring in construction and civil engineering in year 2014 to enroll professional postgraduate student. There are four independent and common disciplinary directions, including geoenvironmental engineering, structural engineering, engineering construction and management and low carbon energy. The geoenvironmental engineering is the new discipline closely combining geotechnics and environmental science which mainly uses geotechnics theories, methods and technology to treat and protect the environment. The structural engineering mainly relates to structural performance monitoring and control, research on structural seismic behavior of structural reinforcement and reconstruction. The engineering construction and management mainly relates to construction technology of civil engineering, construction process control, risk and safety management of engineering project and contract management of the engineering contract. The low carbon energy mainly relates to research on related policies of energy-saving of buildings and green buildings, research and application on construction energy saving and improvement technology, R&D and promotion of low carbon technology.
二、Educational objectives
The construction and civil engineering is the important engineering field in infrastructure construction, it is a subject that research and create the ecological condition and all kinds of engineering facilities needed by the society. This subject is related with survey, design, construction and maintenance of industrial and civil building and its environment and equipment. The education target of professional postgraduate student of environmental field of construction and civil engineering: to educate senior engineering technical personnel with solid and systematic basic theory and professional knowledge of construction and civil engineering and environmental geotechnics, etc.; knowing the advance in the relevant subjects, with strong scientific research ability, use advanced technology and method to solve survey, design, construction and maintenance problems, etc. of the engineering fields, with the ability to grasp and use a foreign language, and with the ability to undertake technical or management work of related engineering field.
